SDRA Programm is ready
Thursday, June 20, 2024
Finally! The programme of the 10th Software Defined Radio Academy is ready. It took a little longer this year because of a large number of changes that came in recently. But I'm proud to say that it has become a good programme and I'm looking forward to hear all the talks.
I am particularly looking forward to our anniversary. 10 years of SDRA was a lot of work and it cost us a lot of time, but it was worth the effort. We have been able to collect 150 talks covering all imaginable aspects of SDR, and we were able to attract most of the renowned researchers in this field. We were even able to welcome a Nobel Price winner on our stage.
And I am proud to say that the SDRA has become a real family. We have speakers who come here repeatedly with new ideas and the audience is eager to comment and discuss. But we have also had losses, such as our friends Adam Farson AB4OJ/VA7OJ and Kjell Karlsen, LA2NI, who have recently passed away, and we will commemorate them.
For now we are just a little more than a week away and I will enjoy to welcome many of you in room Berlin in Friedrichshafen, or in the live stream, which you will be able to find at https://youtube.sdra.io
SDRA's 10th anniversary
Monday, March 11 2024
What a year! We have seen nine years of SDRAs, and the 10th incarnation of SDR technology teaching will come to us in 2024. Within these years we have been able to welcome a great number of speakers on stage and remote. We have seen a Nobel Price winner and many inventors. We have seen companies present their most recent research and we have been a first time ever stage for student speakers who have later started a scientific career.
We have been able to observe SDR technology to become mainstream in the industry and in Amateur Radio alike, with prices for radios tumbling while devices becoming more versatile as their features and functionalities are defined by software mostly.
But this is not the end of a development. We are observing also that FPGAs are becoming more powerful, pushing the doors wide open for new radio applications that will shape our daily life in the future.
So this is the background on which we are working to bring together a community of academic researchers, industry and radio amateurs, promote knowledge about SDR.
Though we do not just want to address scientists, but the general Amateur Radio public. We welcome all contributions, tutorials, beginners' guides to SDR and the like. Even if you've never considered Software Defined Radio, we want to attract you as a listener with insightful information.
